The early years are enjoying using the basket of goodies and the staff are being very creative in using the equipment for speaking and listening, storytelling, sorting, counting, comparing materials, textures and shapes and sizes. And the children are coming up with their own games and activities too. We have not even looked at the cards yet! The children are bringing in bits from home to add to the collection. A fantastic resource, the children love the basket of treasures. It has made them very aware of objects in their homes and outdoors. Thank you.

The resource is very much a child-led experience. I always find the children lead one activity into another.
The children can spend a long time just exploring and investigating the objects and their uses before the activity even begins.

Thank you so much for your advice and the hands on play with your great treasure basket. I just thought I'd give you some feedback - the Treasure Basket and Sensac have been a real hit with all three of my children! They are each playing with the things in slightly different ways but have all been playing together crowding round the basket and delving deeply - it was a joy to see.

My eldest 7 years, quickly took on the role of custodian and has been interested in what everything is and their alternative uses. He has been inspired to start different collections and took a plastic bag on our walk yesterday to collect interesting leaves / conkers / feathers etc. The middle one 4 years, loves the little bags and placing as many objects in them as he can - he's the squirrel! The baby has just enjoyed being part of the action and exploring different objects. She has moved from the cork coaster to the little metal bucket and taking around the book.
It's just the start of an amazing play experience for all of us - it just turns up the unexpected - like how interesting a cork coaster is! All this and we haven't started with the cards yet, so looking forward to those.

I am thrilled to see Treasure Baskets are at last being recognised as a stimulating, valuable play and learning resource for young children. This meets the need for those who do not, perhaps, have the time or energy to search out a wide variety of interesting objects made from natural materials to place in the basket. Of all the baskets I have seen the Playscope basket is by far the best being full to the brim of interesting objects including many unique items. The Playscope cards encourage practitioners to use the resources in a variety of imaginative ways with children from a wide age range. This ensures the investment made in the resources will be very worthwhile and they will be used by children in a variety of ways for many years and prove to be good value for money.
